The Social Program at "be active '09" will provide delegates with a unique opportunity to network with other Sports Medicine Professionals in many informal settings around Brisbane. In '09 the Welcome Reception will be combined with the opening of the Trade Exhibition to open the conference. This will be followed by the Poster Session and a number of dinners and other social activities over the next three days culminating with our Queensland Government be active Conference Dinner on the Saturday night.

 

Welcome Reception - Wednesday 14 October

In 2009 the Welcome Reception will be combined with the opening of the Trade Exhibition. Drinks and canapés will be served whilst delegates have the opportunity to meet with other delegates, speakers and exhibitors.

One ticket is included with each Australian Conference of Science and Medicine in Sport registration, Seventh National Physical Activity Conference registration, Sixth National Sports Injury Prevention Conference registration and other registration options that include registration for Wed 14th Oct. Tickets for other registration options not including Wed 14th Oct, accompanying guests and partners may be purchased separately for $50 GST Inc each.

 

Poster Session - Thursday 15 October

The poster session will be a stand alone session at the conference, with discussion fueled by a complimentary drinks service. Senior members of SMA will provide feedback to individual researchers and discuss their research. Further, all poster abstracts accepted are published in a special edition of the Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport and will have the chance to share in one of the four poster awards on offer, each valued at $500.

 

Australian Sports Medicine Federation Fellows Dinner - Thursday 15 October

The Australian Sports Medicine Federation Fellows Dinner will be held on the Thursday night following the Poster Session. The Fellows dinner will be held aboard the Kookaburra River Queen paddleboat on the lower deck.

Boarding is at 7pm from Cruise Terminal 1 on Southbank for a 7:30pm departure.

NB The Fellows Dinner is only open to Australian Sports Medicine Federation Fellows and their partners or guest.
NNB Ticket includes food and entertainment only - drinks to be purchased separately

Tickets must be purchased for all those attending. Tickets cost $60 GST Inc per person includes a three-course meal.

 

Brisbane River Dinner Cruise Optional Delegate Dinner - Thursday 15 October

There is an optional dinner opportunity open for delegates on the Thursday night following the Poster Session. The dinner will be held aboard the Kookaburra River Queen paddleboat on the upper deck. Numbers are limited.

Boarding is at 7pm from Cruise Terminal 1 on Southbank for a 7:30pm departure.

Tickets must be purchased for all those attending. Tickets cost $65 GST Inc per person includes a three-course meal.

 

Discipline Group Dinners - Friday 16 October

All Professional Groups involved with the conference will be holding Dinners on the Friday night. Details of each dinner will be placed here as they are finalised and tickets for each can be purchased via the online registration site or by emailing Davina Sanders.

The premier social event of "be active '09" promises to be a memorable evening. This years Queensland Government be active Conference Dinner will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre where you will enjoy local entertainment, dancing and fine food. The theme is a Black and White Masked Ball.

One ticket is included with each Australian Conference of Science and Medicine in Sport registration, Seventh National Physical Activity Conference registration, Sixth National Sports Injury Prevention Conference registration and other registration options that include registration for Sat 17th Oct.
